On Wednesday, November 26, the Russia-Thailand Investment Forum 2025, the largest annual platform for developing bilateral economic cooperation, opened in Phuket, Thailand. Organized by the Russia-Thailand Business Council (RTBC), the event attracted over 600 investors and experts, as well as representatives of over 200 companies from both countries, on the first day alone.
The forum is scheduled to feature over 40 discussion and practical sessions, with its overall investment potential estimated at over $1 billion.
The business program opened with a plenary session, “Russia and Thailand: Investing in a Common Future,” where participants discussed the prospects for trade and economic cooperation in the context of global change. Key topics of discussion included the formation of a new international investment architecture and the diversification of bilateral relations—from traditional supplies of petroleum products and metals to high-tech, value-added projects.
On the first day of the forum, memoranda of understanding were signed between the Russian-Thai Business Council and the Thai-Russian Business Council, as well as between the RTBC and the Digital Council of Thailand.
“The signing of a memorandum on digital development underscores our shared commitment to technological partnership and creates new opportunities for exchanging experiences and attracting investment,” noted Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand Vichavat Isarabhakdi. “Thailand is also interested in expanding cooperation in education and training, particularly in science and technology. All this opens up broad prospects for strengthening the long-term partnership between our countries.”
The program’s key tracks include the creation of joint investment projects, prospects for cooperation in development, HoReCa, digital transformation, and the creation of logistics corridors. Particular attention is paid to technological cooperation: the session “Digital Sovereignty as an Opportunity for Business Development” will highlight joint projects in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Healthcare, education, media business, culture, and the arts will also be discussed on the forum’s sidelines.
The forum also includes specialized events: startup pitch sessions, a roundtable discussion on the development of women’s entrepreneurship within BRICS, and master classes on the specifics of business communication in the cultures of Russia and Thailand.
The event will run until November 28 and will serve as a platform for concluding agreements between the business communities of the two countries.
